Fort Worth Park Place Celebrates New Baylor Surgical Hospital
Page employees just attended the grand opening of the firm's newly-built design of a United Surgical Partners International (USPI) project, the Baylor Surgical Hospital at Fort Worth. The two-story, 82,000 square foot hospital was designed in response to USPI’s need for a modern and upgraded facility while preparing for future growth opportunities.
It is always gratifying to celebrate the end of a project with a client when they open their doors to the public. The Page project team was well-represented by several members including Eric Kuehmeier, Beth Carroll, Gil Hack, Crystal McMahon, Ricardo Muñoz and Lanny Huggins. The Baylor Surgical Hospital’s CEO, Roger Rhodes, and USPI president, Jonathan Bond, both spoke with pride about the building’s design and the process to completion. Tours were given throughout the afternoon, showcasing the Surgical Suite, Inpatient Unit, Intensive Care Unit, as well as the open light-filled lobby and public amenities.
At the beginning, Page supported USPI in the assessment of multiple options to resolve their needs through a programming process that determined a replacement facility was their best choice. The site for the new hospital is located approximately 1.5 miles from the existing facility, revitalizing a brown field site within a rapidly improving area of south Fort Worth. There are a number of opportunities to connect surrounding neighborhoods to the “Park Place” area via pedestrian and vehicular connections with a future mass transit station.
The new Baylor Surgical Hospital provides expanded surgical services along with pre-admit, diagnostic imaging, emergency care, inpatient and intensive care services. Respite areas for family members and visitors include a lobby garden and café that overlooks the adjacent Park Place Neighborhood development. The new facility offers private patient beds, unavailable at the former location, which aligns the hospital with its desired goal for patient-family centered care.
