ACU Interior Design Students Visit Page

Page recently hosted interior design students from Abilene Christian University (ACU). Students traveled from Abilene to Austin to tour the office. Pagers and ACU alumni Amanda Scott Martinez and Talmadge Smith spoke to the group about their roles in the firm and highlighted local projects, such as the 2nd Street Master Plan and ABIA. Delaney Graves assisted with the tour, explaining to the students the strategies behind Page’s new office renovations. Smith, Scott Martinez and Graves all answered students' questions at the end of the tour.

Amanda Scott Martinez currently serves on the ACU Visiting Committee for the Art & Design Department. She provides input from the perspective of a practicing professional to enhance the learning initiatives and goals of the Interior Design and Pre-Architecture programs. The committee meets once a year during homecoming in the fall. As part of her role in the group and her desire to introduce design students to practice beyond academia, Amanda coordinated a day-long visit to design firms and projects in Austin. She hopes this will become and annual event. This year’s tour included the Page Austin tour, a project tour of Furman + Keil Architects' restaurant Italic, a combined lunch and education session hosted by the Metropolitan Gallery and Commercial Flooring Systems and tours of Workplace Resources furniture showroom and Laura Britt Design. Page was happy to host the students and encourage them to continue their pursuits of design education.
