500 More Apartments Planned for Mueller Development
Austin’s Mueller community is quickly growing with the help of a national multifamily company. The established developer plans to expand the historic Mueller mixed-use district with a second apartment complex.
The new development will feature two, four-story buildings with 318 units comprised of studio, one-bedroom, two-bedroom and three-bedroom floor plans. The average apartment size will be 100 square feet larger than the existing apartments at Mueller, which Page also designed for the same client. The proposed amenities include a fitness center, business center, pool, cabana with outdoor kitchen and a sky deck.
The first Mueller complex was designed to function as a sustainable, mixed-use development and a central commercial district. “Our first community has proven to be very successful, which is a testament to the need for housing and a strong desire to live in a community like Mueller. We believe Mueller attracts potential residents who desire to live a healthier lifestyle in a LEED-certified community,” a corporate executive said.
A portion of the new units will be reserved for residents who qualify for the Mueller Affordable Homes Program. “These 500-plus residential units help make Aldrich Street the most diverse and dense part of this compact and vibrant Mueller community,” Greg Weaver, executive vice president of Catellus Development Corp., Mueller’s master developer, said.
Construction for the complex is scheduled to start this fall, and it it’s expected to open in early 2017.
